Chasing Hermes

Welcome to Chasing Hermes!

We are finally live with the website and with the first two episodes of the podcast. This blog and podcast are dedicated to the pursuit of Mercury, the elusive principle of nature which quickens the spirit and inspires the mind to contemplate divine realms. Thoth, Hermes, Mercury, the Essence... whatever name we choose it remains nameless and eternal.

I enjoyed the presentations I took in, and intend to experience the others as soon as the opportunity opens itself up to me. It sounded to one, that much joy was being experienced by both hosts! I feel they were both in they're Element!
You both expressed yourselves well, and didn't talk down to folks, it was quite easy to follow along, and derive the same conclusions.

I would like to study and know more about Hermeticism, as I beleve it is the foundation for all of science, past and present, as well as a mystical path.

just started listening and wanted to let you know i think you're doing a great job! hermeticism can be a tough subject (and complicated) but you seem to be handling it with aplomb : ) any plans on doing shows on specific individuals i.e. bruno, mirandola, bardon, etc.?

Hi! You are not the first person to suggest biography shows... It is definitely on our list of topics to cover. There are just so many influential personalities in the history of hermetism/hermeticism and their life stories are often just as interesting as their writings.

"Aplomb" is such a great word... I shall use it more often.

Thanks for dropping us a line!

Stumbled onto your website when trying to find out more about the guardian of the threshold. You brilliantly answered all my questions. Since then I've been listening to all your podcasts.
Ps. Just thought i'd mention the common misconception I had till recently and you also mention in your first episode. The symbol of medicine is the Rod of Asclepius not the Caduceus of Hermes.

Hi Mark! Glad you are enjoying the podcast. The symbol for medicine probably ought to be the rod of Asclepius (a single snake entwining the rod) due to the connection with the god of healing, but over time and perhaps inadvertently the Caduceus of Hermes has been used instead (with two snakes and two wings). So although Hermes has little to do with healing in the classical sense his rod has become the de facto symbol for medicine in many cases. Poor Asclepius!
