#10: Seven Alchemical Principles, part 2 (40:10)

Episode 10: Seven Alchemical Principles, part 2

Our sojourn into the world of practical alchemy continues with a plunge into the last four of the seven alchemical principles - Conjunction, Fermentation, Distillation and Coagulation. These four stages represent the coagula process which must follow after the completion of the first three solve stages that we discussed in episode nine.

Conjunction is the recombination of the parts that were taken apart in the separation process.
Fermentation is the controlled decay of the substance in order to allow new life to arise.
Distillation extracts the alcohol created in the fermentation stage.
Coagulation finally joins the mercury, sulfur and salt

Due to the rather advanced nature of these discussions we recommend that you listen to part one before continuing with part two.

Interesting project. Almost sounds like the "salt" you are extracting from your plant life is DMT!

For those interested, most plant salts are mildly alkaline, containing potassium carbonate, among other bases. Some salts, like those extracted from oak ash, are so strong that they can etch glass after a few hours!

The fizzing heard when the salts are added to the spirit/soul is from these carbonates and bicarbonates reacting with the mildly acidic mixture, and producing carbon dioxide gas. If enough salt is added all at once to a small enough glass, the warmth of this reaction, along with the general warmth of dissolution, can sometimes be felt with your hands.

Always reminded me of a first heartbeat

Cheers mates, keep up the good work!

I really loved this podcast guys! I just downloaded all of them to my Iphone and I listen to them on my Jogs and in the morning to substitute the (uninspiring) radio. My only criticism is that I have found a large emphasis on the planets (the symbols) to the phases/stages of Alchemy on my own personal research, however you guys seemed to have left them out. You related the process to the Emerald Tablet, an elemental process, which is great, however I've seen a large amount of sources which leave out the Tablet and focus more on the AZOTH. Will you guys every revisit Alchemy? What ever the case these Podcasts are *gold* Thanks for taking the time to enrich our lives.

That was hilarious when a glass fixture was sounded as breaking...Nice comic relief in an otherwise deeply spiritual or potentially illuminating process.
I second the comment on DMT, and actually this cast has sparked some ideas for a new recipe/method. I also dig the comment about the heartbeat - giving alchemical birth.
I have a question: Did you drink the tincture and did you find it to be potent and helpful? Obviously the process itself is of psychological and/or spiritual help, but did the potion actually show power?
Finally, I'm writing a paper for a CIIS (Cal Institute of Integral Studies) for an alchemy class less by Craig Chalquist who wrote, amongst other things, "Cooking for the Collective Unconscious" - found on alchemylab.com, and I thought that since I have a cast called gateway8, we might collaborate for 1 podcast either on my channel or your own. I'm still refining and trying to distill the essence of my paper, but it appears to be headed towards a unity of three aspects: personal alchemy via kundalini awakening, social alchemy via living one's essence of the stone, and global alchemy in terms of astrological cycles and the McKenna idea of the transcendental object at the end of time.

    Peace out and thanks dudes.
